HaveBeerWillTravel is a group of true beer lovers.  We visit places around the world where one can find the best beer.  We visit storied brewing cities, long-running beer festivals, new & exciting brewers, and the people who make beer their lives.  Over the years I have been to 11 Oktoberfest celebrations in Munich, Germany.  I have visited several towns in Belgium, Czech Republik, Germany, Holland, Canada, the U.S. and Poland for the purpose of drinking the great beer they brew.  Of course, we also set-out to meet the people behind these beers.  Beer brings people together, so I go where people enjoying good beer, food, music, & friendships.  There is a word in German which describes such an atmosphere, called Gemutschlikeit.  Although this particular word does not translate exactly into any English word or phrase, it does come close to several of them.  This word means "leave your troubles behind, and enjoy life with good friends".  It also means "ultimate atmosphere & fun"...  Well, that's what it means to me anyway.

Although the company was just founded in August of 2007, and we only have two "official" employees (Myself and Chris) at its inception; we plan to make ourselves known in the beer festival and brewing communities.  We want to share the overall beer experience with many others.  I hope that I can shed some light on the history of beer, and it's importance in making the world what it is today.  In fact; we will touch on how beer was absolutely necessary when it was first discovered & brewed in China - over 8,000 years ago.  Since that time, beer has been a major player in many of the great cities all over the globe.  Several breweries in Germany, Belgium, Poland, Czech Republik, Holland, the U.K. and others have been perfecting their wonderful craft for nearly 1,000 years.  Although I have had the pleasure of visiting breweries such as Augustiner, Weihenstephaner & Hacker-Pshorr in Munich, I have only scratched the surface.  We plan to do much more work in the coming years, and sincerely hope you will join us.  Your input, participation, knowledge, photo's, and shared stories about this healthy, tasty, beautiful beverage.

Since travelling and drinking beer go hand-in-hand, we thought sharing our experiences, and gathering data from other beer lovers & experts made a great deal of sense.  Since the late 1980's, I have had the great fortune of travelling to great German brewing cities, festivals, small towns, and enjoyed other great experiences across Europe, North America, and even the Caribbean Isles.  Places like Weihenstephaner in Bavaria have been brewing great beer since 1080, and they have not changed a thing.  All you need to make great beer is:  good water, great hops & barley, a few hints of yeast & malt, and a ton of passion.  Although I am still a novice as a brewer myself, that will definitely change over the next few years as well.  This site is dedicated to not only visiting those who already know how to brew beer, celebrate it, and market it, but also gaining the necessary knowledge on how to make it.  You cannot make great beer without great people.

This is truly an exciting time to be celebrating and learning about beer, as the North American craft brews have come back with a vengeance.  Particularly in the United States.  I am really excited about several upcoming trips to fabulous larger breweries that have put the U.S. back on the world beer map like Rogue, Sam Adams, DogfishHead, and others.  Also, we will visit many smaller craft brewers across the globe.  Getting on a plane for 8 hours, knowing that there is great beer, and a great new bunch of friends waiting for you is much better than doing so for a sales meeting.  We will certainly get more accomplished by drinking and learning about beer than they do in those meetings.

Please share your experiences and tips with me, and I will try to make this a lot of fun for us all.  I know that it will be a tremendously rewarding journey for me.

Sincerely,
